Digital art is a form of creative expression that utilizes digital technology as the primary medium for creating artwork. Artists use software, digital tools, and electronic devices such as computers, tablets.
Beheshta Jamal, an artist from Afghanistan, and for the past four years painting has become a meaningful part of my life. I began my artistic journey in Kabul, where in the middle of busy days and constant movement, art offered me a quiet and safe space. It didn’t take long for me to realize that painting was more than a skill—it was a way to breathe, to express what stays in the heart, and to give shape to feelings that words cannot always hold.
Throughout these years, I’ve tried to keep my work honest and emotional. Whether I’m building soft shadows with charcoal, tracing delicate lines with pencil, or bringing color to life through acrylic and oil, each piece carries a part of my inner world.
Participating in several exhibitions in Kabul gave me the chance to connect with people and see how my work speaks to different viewers. Later, being part of an international exhibition in Pakistan became an important milestone for me—an experience where I received four artistic certificates, and felt my path becoming clearer and stronger.
Artist Statement:
“For me, painting is the moment when everything becomes quiet. When I draw with charcoal or pencil, it feels like I’m shaping a silence that speaks—one that comes from the experiences of Afghan women, from their strength, patience, hope, and the beauty they carry within. Oil and acrylic allow me to be more open and expressive, letting emotions flow with deeper intensity. I believe art can preserve moments that often go unnoticed in everyday life.”
