Biography:

My name is Hamida Afzali, and art has been my way of seeing and expressing the world since 2019. From the beginning, I was drawn to details—those subtle elements that often go unnoticed. This sensitivity naturally led me toward hyperrealism, where every shadow, every line, and every texture must be created with patience and intention.

I work primarily with charcoal and pencil, mediums that allow me to capture emotion, silence, and the depth within faces and objects. Alongside these, I have developed strong experience in pen sketching, acrylic painting, and oil painting, each offering its own language and possibilities.

Artist Statement :

As a woman from Afghanistan, art has been my way of breathing through cultural limitations and expressing myself freely. In a society where the path is not always easy for women, I have turned lines and shadows into a language of independence.

Whenever I work with charcoal or pencil, I feel I am giving voice to the quiet strength of women in Afghanistan—strength that carries hope, patience, and beauty. Creating art, for me, is a way of standing against silence and showing that we see, we create, and we continue.
